When the owners of this Federation style semi-detached home in Sydney’s Queens Park decided to renovate, they called on the expertise of architect Keith Glover and interior designer Trudi Scrymgour from Form Follows Function.
Geberit concealed cisterns offered a simple and elegant solution that maximised available floorspace. Trudi specified Geberit Kappa under counter concealed cisterns in all three bathrooms with Sigma50 buttons in white glass. Kappa under counter cisterns are installed in a hob, providing handy storage that makes a big difference in a smaller bathroom.
Trudi and Keith have extensive experience renovating period homes; their portfolio includes a selection of some of the finest addresses in the eastern suburbs. They were even selected to refurbish a New York apartment. Trudi and Keith submitted designs for what turned out to be an extensive renovation; ultimately, only two of the original rooms remained. The plans included an additional three bedrooms, open living and dining area, new laundry and a total of three bathrooms. The result is a compelling blend of old and new that respects the heritage of the home, making it relevant to the needs of today.
For interior designers and architects, the direction in bathroom design is towards concealed cisterns.
“They’re aesthetically pleasing, neat and go hand in hand with streamlined bathroom designs. I really love the refined design of the buttons”.
Trudi will initiate the recommendation for a concealed cistern and then invite clients to a showroom to view the range of button designs and finishes.
“Once they experience the quality of the Geberit product they get a better understanding of how well made and reliable they are. Of course, being made in Switzerland is very reassuring”.
It was the combination of more space in the bathroom and the reassurance of Swiss precision engineering that led Trudi’s client to go with the recommendation and install Geberit concealed cisterns.
“I’ve been specifying Geberit concealed cisterns for years for both residential and commercial projects. They allow greater design freedom, with the ability to specify wall hung pans and feature continuous, uninterrupted tiling. They also allow freedom to blend in or contrast with the design of the rest of the room”.
